$6 FOR 1

Every six seconds a child dies because of hunger and related causes.

1 2 3 4 5 6

What if you were told the dirty, sticky change from the bottom of your purse or your car floor could make a difference in the life of a child?  The change that we so carelessly toss in an empty drawer could be enough to fill a child's belly.  How many pennies do we pass by on the street?  It's only a penny, right?  Those wasted pennies and dirty thrown-away-dimes could add up to enough to provide a meal to a child living in poverty.  A child that is starving from malnutrition.  30 cents is all it takes to feed a child a hot meal.  $6 will provide a child one meal a day for an entire month.

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

James 2:8 "Yes indeed, it is good when you truly obey our Lord's command, "You must love and help your neighbors just as much as you love and take care of yourself."

Into the Streets of Ethiopia is excited to offer a new campaign entitled, $6 FOR 1.

The challenge is simple!  Can you and your family gather enough change (in a 30 day time frame) to help feed the hungry in Ethiopia?  This is an excellent way for parents to engage their children in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.   Saving all those loose pennies, counting them at the end of the month, is a practical way of sharing and caring for others.    Create a fun place for your kids to drop their coins into.  Here is a great example:

$6 FOR 1, will be an on-going effort in feeding the children involved with Adoption Ministry of YWAM-Ethiopia.  We will provide updates on the feeding program in Addis Ababa as well as reports from YOU!  What is your family doing to make a difference for 1?  We want photos of you in action!

Becky Burk of Adopt Africa, designed our grab button!  Please help spread the word!

***Into The Streets of Ethiopia has received a promise from a generous donor matching every dollar that is given--up to $250.  Please give!***

  1. Hi there,
I have just found your blog and am reading through it all and read this post...such a wonderful idea and one that I would love to help with. My husband and I are in the process of raising money for our own Ethiopian adoption right now and have made it our mission to educate more on adoption and the string need for help in Ethiopia but along with promoting adoption I do want to also raise money to help those living in poverty there now . I have read and hear that it doesn't take much to put food in the mouths, clothes on their backs and shelters over the heads of the innocent children and want to do whatever we can to help. I hate the fact that some children are having to be adopted because their own families cannot afford to keep them alive and how great would it be if we could really spread the word and get people to take action and help those in need for not much out of pocket, really anyone and everyone can do this, and maybe some children could remain with family members that love them and can take care of them but not starve or go without. I would love to talk more and get involved with helping you in this so please feel free to email me anytime: joelymelissa@yahoo.com also our blog is http://expecting-from-ethiopia.blogspot.com/ if you want to see who we are and read about what we are doing too.

    Nice meeting you :)

  2. I have been learning a tremendous amount about Ethiopia through a friends adoption blog, and I am thouroughly amazed at what so little can do. I am setting up our own $6 challenge here at the house, I have posted the link on my facebook page as well. It is amazing to think i can truly help out, when I myself have so little. My husband and I have 4 young children, and are literally struggling to pay bills.....but $6, c'mon, anyone can come up with that......

(PS -- when i have the $30, I am absolutely buying a shirt, I LOVE love LOVE the message, just love it!!!!)
